QA Engineer/Tester

We are currently seeking a QA Engineer/Tester to join our team in Trondheim!

If you have solid experience in software testing, enjoy setting up and running test processes, and take pride in ensuring high-quality products, you might be the person we’re looking for. In this role, you will have the main responsibility for quality assurance across our development team—ensuring that everything is properly tested and reliable before it goes into production.

Since this is a new role in our team, we need someone senior, who knows how to set up and run tests effectively, introduce best practices, and improve our testing workflow. As we are a relatively small development team, it would also be a great advantage if you’re comfortable fixing issues that arise during testing.

What does the job entail?

As a QA Engineer at Fyr, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and stability of our products. You will be responsible for defining, implementing, and executing test strategies to catch issues early and improve reliability. This includes:

• Owning the QA process—ensuring that all releases are thoroughly tested before going live.
• Supporting the team and ensuring confidence in each release.
• Developing effective communication and documentation across the company for new releases.
• Planning and developing routines for manual testing.
• Planning and developing automated tests to improve efficiency.
• Writing requirements specifications together with stakeholders and developers.
• Providing technical support when needed.
• Improving and maintaining test environments, tools, and automation frameworks.
• Identifying, documenting, and tracking bugs, and working closely with developers to resolve them.

Since this is a new role in our team, you’ll have significant influence over how testing is structured and executed. You will also work closely with our developers, marketing consultants, and platform users. While formal communication is conducted in English, we also communicate in Norwegian in the office. Proficiency in Norwegian is, however, not a requirement.

It’s an advantage if you have:

• Solid experience in software testing, with a track record of improving QA processes.
• Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks, tools, and best practices.
• Experience with manual testing, test planning, and defining QA workflows.
• Familiarity with backend testing, API testing, and performance testing.
• Knowledge of TypeScript, VueJS, E2E testing, integration testing and other relevant test utilities is a plus. 
• Knowledge of Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and Linux (or similar technologies).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into the development workflow.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with developers and other stakeholders.
• The ability and willingness to fix issues when possible.

NB: This is a hybrid office role at our Trondheim location. While we offer flexibility, candidates must be able to work from the office several days a week.  Candidates must also have the right to work in Norway.
